I’m an employee of the NC State Government or the Federal Government. How can I telework
from a TeleworkSitetm?
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Contact the telework coordinator for your agency.
Federal
workers determine your agency's telework policy and procedure requirements.
- Contact the TeleworkSitetm
Center to check workspace availability and to schedule a tour.
- Contact your immediate supervisor and
request consideration for telework.
You can also contact the
TeleworkSitetm Director at anytime in this process for help with planning
your efforts to telework. More details can also be found the North Carolina and
GSA Telework web site.
I do not work for the government. Can I telework from a TeleworkSitetm Center?
Yes! Call the
TeleworkSitetm Center for information about availability and flexible rent
schedules!
How many days per week can I telework from a TeleworkSitetm Center?
Our reservation schedules are flexible. You and your supervisor should
determine how many days per week is appropriate for you to telework.
Contact the Teleworksitetm Center to reserve the
day or days you need.
Why should I consider teleworking from a TeleworkSitetm Center instead of from my
home?
Many folks prefer the TeleworkSitetm over working at
home because they can separate their
home and work life. Some prefer less distractions from family needs.
The TeleworkSitetm has all the office equipment
normally found in the main office. We also have high-speed Internet service.
Also, our on-site technical assistance assures you help when you need it!
What services do you offer?
Our services are listed within this
web site. If you have a need that is not indicated in our list of
services, please inquire. We often help with special projects and we're
happy to consider your request.
What are the TeleworkSitetm Center fees?
Our fees for a full-time workstation begin at $375 per month. This fee
includes broadband internet access, furniture, printing to our laser
printers, photocopies, faxing (in and out-bound) and use of common areas such as
the kitchen and conference room. And don't forget on-site technical
support! Our reservations are flexible. For example, if you choose to telework
Tuesday and Thursday each week, you would be charged 2/5 of the full time rate
for the space of your choice (subject to availability). Full-time private
offices are available at different rates depending on size and options.
Please call for a quote.
Is a TeleworkSitetm the same as an executive suite?
No, executive suite are usually intended for start-up companies that need a place to
meet with clients and create an office presence.
TeleworkSites are designed for general office use and serve office workers who do not
need to be at their regular work site all the time.
I’m afraid I’ll be up against some resistance. Any suggestions?
- Prepare.
List all the daily, weekly, monthly tasks which you perform in your assignment
office which could be performed anywhere. Determine how many days per week it
would prudent for you to telework. Organize your plan and put it in
writing. Consider things like, productivity if you are often interrupted in
your current office. Show how you will communicate with your supervisor.
- Collect
telework information. Contact the
TeleworkSitetm
Center to determine if space is available the days you would like
to telework. For Federal employees, contact your telework coordinator for
information on your agency’s policy and procedure. Collect the appropriate
paperwork for your agency or your human resource department. What else do
you need? Long distance calling card? Special software or VPN access? Have
all this information ready to help make your case for telework.
- Request an
appointment with your supervisor. Ask your supervisor to consider your
telework request. If telework is new to your office, suggest a trial period
where you both can determine if telework is right for you and your office.
- With approval
and paperwork in hand, prepare to begin teleworking by scheduling your
first day at a TeleworkSitetm Center.
